Introduction
The camera supports the PTZ controls but the camera toolbar in the Video Portal does not show the PTZ control button on the camera toolbar.
Possible reasons
1. Roles are not configured
The user you are using does not have permission to use PTZ in the role. Add the permission to use PTZ to the user's role:
2. Wrong ONVIF user permissions granted
To ensure that the platform functions properly, it is necessary to integrate the camera using an account with Administrator-level access and all permissions enabled. Failure to do so may cause a variety of issues, including difficulty controlling the PTZ function.
When integrating the camera via the ONVIF protocol using a user account that lacks proper authorization to access all of the camera's features, various problems may occur. Multiple user accounts can usually be created to manage the camera, and each account can be granted a different level of access. Although the names of these user roles may differ among manufacturers, typical ones include admin, operator, guard, or viewer. To avoid issues caused by a lack of access permissions, it is important to select the user with the highest level of access.
For instance, on Vivotek cameras, it is possible to create a user named "admin" but only grant them operator privileges, which could result in PTZ controls not functioning in the video portal:
Besides problems with PTZ controls improper user privileges can cause result in higher-than-expected bills at the end of the month due to increased camera storage consumption. If a user without permission to configure the video stream adds a camera, our servers will not be able to adjust the video stream quality. As a result, storage and traffic consumption may be much higher if the camera's resolution and bitrate are set to a higher value than the billing plan bitrate.
Please note that our fixed pricing plan is only guaranteed if the camera is integrated with a user account that has full control over the camera. If the camera's average bitrate exceeds the allowed limit for a selected billing plan, we will apply overage charges at the end of the month based on the difference between the actual camera consumption and the target billing plan consumption. Cameras that have exceeded the allowed limit and are added using a user account with insufficient permissions will be billed according to the Pay as You Go billing plan.
3. Camera does not support PTZ controls over the ONVIF protocol
Some models of IP cameras can have PTZ functionality but the manufacturer might have opted out of ONVIF support for this feature and thus the PTZ control panel won't appear in the video portal for such cameras. For PTZ control to work properly, the camera must comply with the ONVIF protocol.
