Managing Monitoring Station

The Monitoring Station enables supervisors and operators to receive, classify, and process events from customer cameras. Before monitoring can begin, the supervisor user must configure customers, sites, and analytical rules to ensure that events flow correctly into the station.  To make sure that events from specific cameras are reaching the monitoring station, these cameras must be included in the monitoring role

1. Preparing Cameras for Monitoring

To ensure that events from specific cameras reach the Monitoring Station, those cameras must be added to the Monitoring Station cameras role. This role directly determines billing for the Monitoring Station add‑on, as the number of cameras assigned to it defines the subscription count.

2. Logging Into the Monitoring Portal

Use your supervisor credentials to access the Monitoring Station, use the same username and password used for the regular video portal

Supervisor users have full access to all monitoring workflows, including event classification, incident processing, and configuration management.

3. Creating Customers and Sites

Once logged in, the supervisor can begin building the monitoring structure:

  1. Create the first customer

  2. Create the associated site(s) under that customer

Each site acts as a container for cameras, schedules, instructions, and operator-facing alerts.

4. Assigning Cameras and Configuring Site Settings

After creating a site:

  • Assign cameras that should be monitored

  • Create schedules if monitoring is required only during specific hours

  • Add operator instructions to guide event handling

  • Configure warning messages for sites equipped with speakers or dual‑audio cameras

These settings ensure operators receive the correct context and can respond appropriately to events.

5. Using the Supervisor Account for Monitoring

Your supervisor user can immediately begin monitoring. Supervisors can:

  • Classify events

  • Process incidents

  • Adjust monitoring settings

  • Manage configuration and user roles

This makes the supervisor account ideal for initial setup, testing, and training.

6. Adding Additional Users

If you require more personnel in the Monitoring Station, provide:

  • Email addresses

  • Desired roles: Operator, Manager, or Supervisor

These users can then be added to the system with appropriate permissions.
