Troubleshooting "Device is not available for cloud services" error in push installer

Sometimes when the push installer app finishes installing the push module on the camera this error is shown:

For the correct operation of the push module, the camera has to have access to the internet and should be able to resolve DNS names, please check the following to resolve this:

  • If the camera is set to DHCP (automatic IP) mode make sure that the camera was assigned with the IP address that has access to the internet. Adjust the IP address of the camera if needed. Reboot the camera after new settings are saved.
  • If the camera is set to a Static IP address make sure that Default Gateway and DNS servers are appropriate for the new location and adjust if needed. Reboot the camera after new settings are saved.
  • Check for IP address conflicts. Make sure no other devices on the same network have the same IP address as the camera.
  • If the network configuration of the camera is appropriate for the camera location make sure that are no firewall rules that can block the camera. If your network has a Firewall, allow all output TCP traffic to port 443 for the camera.

Situation 1.

The last step of the push module installation is checking the camera network settings. If your camera is set to a static IP address and has an invalid Default Gateway, DNS server this will lead to the above error. Check the camera's network settings to make sure that the camera can access the internet.

To check the camera's internet connection and if the camera can resolve DNS names go to System=>Time and use Sync with NTP server option. Input your preferred NTP server, for example: pool.ntp.org. If the test succeeds your camera network configuration is correct and the camera can reach the internet, if it fails somethings is wrong with either camera network settings or you have router/firewall rules that block the camera from accessing the internet.

Situation 2.

The camera was used before and has a custom config or even custom firmware. Often modifications that were done to the camera can occupy all of the available memory of the camera leaving no space for a push module.

If the camera was used before you attempted to install the push module on restore factory default settings on the camera.

To restore factory default settings on the camera go to System=>Maintenance, make sure to select "Restore all settings to defaults without keeping current network and user settings" and press the Default button.

Situation 3.

If the network to which the camera is connected has a restrictive firewall you need to add a rule allowing OUTBOUND traffic through port 443 for the camera's IP address. Consult with your router manufacturer manual on how to configure such rules.
